DeSu 2 #11: Everything’s Coming Up Daichi!

Daichi ShijimaI waited 11 weeks for this moment, and it paid off!! I can finally use this eyecatch!

So Hibiki has been hospitalized after invoking the Dragon Stream’s power in previous episode. Daichi and Io begin to blame themselves for not having strong enough power, but Airi and Jungo talk them out of their funk. Meanwhile, Alcor’s servants appear before him, questioning why he’s aiding humanity. Botis then attempts to betray Alcor, only to be met with a crushing defeat.

I won't ask how Hinako mistaken a chawanmushi chef for a pimp. Also, I never noticed how tall Jungo is...

The next day, Daichi, Io, Hinako, Airi, and Jungo go through proper introductions over chawanmushi until they each get a dead face clip, showing all five of them getting blown to Hell!!! At the same time, the seventh and final Septentrione, Benetnasch (or Alkaid), appears. Benetnasch is the strongest one yet, possessing the abilities of all the previous Septentriones, so every single summoner has to go out to fight.

Nope, Benetnasch blowing up the Diet Building is most definitely not a reference to how the aliens blew up the White House in Independence Day.

Meanwhile, Hibiki has a dream about his childhood, when he was first met Daichi, up until they entered high school together. Yamato holds off Benetnasch with his powers so the other summoners can attack it. They manage to hold their own (Even Heqet somehow can deal some damage).

Benetnasch lets out a sound frequency that disrupts their demon summoning app, sending the summoners’ demons back. Fumi, however, puts a stop to that by using Fiend Trumpeter’s sound frequency to negate it. However, the summoners’ demons still need time to heal. Meanwhile, Makoto gets Fumi’s dead face clip, and Benetnasch uses Phecda’s beam attack to kill Fumi and Trumpeter.

This is a really nonchalant way to face death.

Without their demons, the other summoners are left at the mercy of Benetnasch. The Dubhe/Merak quarter shoots out hundreds of Dubhe clone to explode around them, killing Airi, Jungo, and Hinako. Hibiki comes in and saves Makoto, Daichi, and Io by having Suzaku shield the other explosions, and then he snaps after hearing of the others’ deaths, siccing Byakko on Benetnasch, but that gets taken down as well. He then decides to tackle Benetnasch himself using the Dragon Stream, while bickering with Yamato about abandoning his comrades when they are no use to him.

Screenshot - 6_13_2013 , 11_13_37 PMIn his despair, Daichi manages to get an actually good demon. A demon that’s even stronger than Yamato’s and Hibiki’s demons. He summons Jaki Black Frost and, with Hibiki and Yamato’s help, destroys Benetnasch and thus brings an end to the Septentriones and humanity’s trial. Hibiki has pretty much had it with Yamato and plans to defeat him, but Alcor steps in to put a stop to their fight.

For the record, Fumi, Airi, and Hinako were the only characters that are safe from getting killed, besides Daichi. The fact that they die here means everyone in this show could end up dead. More than half of the cast is dead right now. Unless this ends in a way I think it will, this won’t have a happy end.

Look at that empty space!!! That was populated by main characters that used to be alive!!! That space is about as empty as my heart now!!
