Attack on Titan #22: Mission Failure

Where we last left off, Levi and Mikasa are pursuing the Female Titan, who has taken Eren captive and probably might’ve swallowed him. Since they can’t hurt her due to her ability to harden her skin, they focus on saving Eren instead of recapturing or killing her.

Yeah, that Titan drool looks pretty damn nasty.

With Eren retrieved, Levi and Mikasa fall back, along with the rest of the Survey Corps. Meanwhile, the townspeople are pretty much savvy enough to know that they’ll return, battered and defeated with numerous corpses. And to hit it harder, we see Oluo, Eldo, Gunther, and Petra’s families awaiting their arrival.

As the Survey Corps return, they find themselves chased down by two Normal Titans. In order to pick up speed and evade them, they decide to dump the load of corpses.

This sounds... oddly familiar.

We get a flashback of Eren and Mikasa seeing the Survey Corps return to Zhiganshina, while the townspeople badmouth them for returning from a failed expedition. The same scenario occurs again, however, Eren sees some praising them despite their failure. But, the Survey Corps’ credibility is lost and Eren is to be handed over to the government…

So I guess this episode is to remind of the situation humanity is in: They’re stuck in a battle with almost zero chances of victory. Pretty good episode.

Oh hey Annie, we haven't seen you in awhile...
