Speaking of funk, this episode, man…
The crew of the Aloha-Oe arrive on Planet Planta, on the search for a rare alien species. However, they can’t get any closer due to the magnetic field created by the planet’s north pole, which more or less explains why no one has found the alien. Fortunately, QT tweaked their teleportation device to make it work 50 times faster… at the cost of it’s targeting being a little off, which she forgot to tell Dandy and Meow before she teleported them.
Dandy and Meow are then captured by weird plant aliens. Dandy meets one of the aliens, named Dr. H, and his daughter, 033H. As it turns out, Planta is a planet inhabited only by evolved sentient plants. 033H accompanies Dandy as he searches for an alien only known as Code D, which Dr. H says is located at the north pole. Dr. H used to be a part of the Code D research group, but was let go when he realized how dangerous it is. Meanwhile somewhere else on the planet, Meow is being fed by another of the planet’s aliens so he can be big enough to eat.
Dandy gets to where Code D is, but he’s the only one who can get close to it because the other aliens can’t stand the stench it protrudes. It turns out that Code D is actually a meteorite that hit the planet and enabled the plants on the planet to evolve. With the meteorite gone, the plants go back to their original state.
So yeah this was weird. There’s really not much I can say, other than… Drugs. Somehow it makes animation better. See Dead Leaves, for examples
