The title of this anime kinda reminds me of a certain cartoon called Captain Planet and the Planeteers. It sucks, mainly because it shoves its anti-pollution message down your throat even though its target audience couldn’t even care less about. But I digress. Hopefully, this won’t remind me of that.
Captain Earth is a Studio Bones original. Near the start of summer vacation, high school student Daichi Manatsu sees circular rainbows that he has seen before around Tanegashima. When he goes to check it out, he meets another boy named Teppei Arashi who asks Daichi why he’s come back to the island. Mysteries surrounding his dad’s supposedly accidental death and Daichi meeting other kids at the island years ago leads to him falling into the cockpit of the Earth Engine and defending Earth from mechanical invaders from Uranus known as KilltGang.
In other words, this is your standard mecha genre fare. Kind of a slow start, but it gets the ball rolling when the mechas come in. Not to mention the Earth Engine design and animations are very nice to look at. So, it sure shows some promise.
