Last week, the unthinkable happened: Sword Art Online did an actually legitimately decent episode. Think it can go two for two?
Spoiler: Obviously not. Don’t you remember what this is?
So anyway, in this episode, we learn that Shino goes into panic attacks at the sight of anything that resembles a gun in real life. How ironic that someone who is afraid of guns plays a game filled with guns. I guess video games is always the solution to real-life problems. Where are all the therapists? Did they all lose their jobs when they realized everybody plays video games as a form of therapy? Considering the terrible morals this crap tried to throw in our faces, I’m willing to assume so.
Also she keeps what apparently is an NES Zapper in her drawer for some reason, and every time she picks it up, she goes into a panic attack. What, does she decide to pick it up whenever she’s in the mood for a panic attack?
The reason for that is because as a child, Shino was involved in an incident where a criminal who was clearly off his meds that day attempted to rob a post office and kill her mom. Shino attacked the guy, making him drop his gun. She picks it up and impulsively shoots him dead. Which resulted in her mom being scared of her and sending her to live with her uncle. Um, lady. She saved your life, and you’re just going to ignore that fact? No wonder why your daughter’s all messed up.
Oh and speaking of “someone,” we focus to Kazuto as he reminds himself of him telling Asuna that he’s quitting ALO. After how terrible the past arc went, I’d quit ALO in a heartbeat too. OK, he’s actually not quitting ALO, he’s going to GGO to investigate the Death Gun incident at Kikuoka’s request.
Anyway, Kazuto goes to the hospital where his extremely touchy-feely nurse who helped him with his rehabilitation after the SAO incident is going to monitor his activity while in GGO, where he will be using an Amusphere to jump into GGO, which can only mean two potentially good things.
1: Kirito won’t be an overpowered Gary Stu (probably). Since his stats are saved to his NerveGear, he should have a completely fresh start with nothing carried over, which also leads to…
2: None of that little shit Yui going Turbo. She was an unneeded addition that served as one of the many reasons why SAO was terrible.
The episode closes with Death Gun looking at internet requests to show himself in public. He’s too smart to fall for that, He does appear to have a hit list, though, and it looks like Sinon’s his next target…
This season is just only beginning to destroy yet another female character. Because if there’s one thing that this show excels at, it’s that very thing just to make her waifu material. Yep, I think its time to abandon the “Maybe SAO II won’t be as bad as the first season” ship, because it’s about to start sinking soon. At least the plot can finally get moving already. We Fem Kirito now.
