Happy new year! You know something? Since Sailor Moon resurfaced, I’ve found myself enjoying magical girl anime more often. So you expect something like a magical boy to be something that strangely sparks my interest a bit. A magical boy isn’t something new to me *points towards Is This a Zombie?*, but I digress.
Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!, a Diomedea original, follows En Yufuin and Atsushi Kinugawa as a pink wombat drops into the bath house run by Yumoto Hakone and tells them that they must save the world. Along with upperclassmen Io Naruko and Ryu Zaou, they form the Earth Defense Club, and they do everything but defend the Earth… that is until the wombat gives them magic bracelets that allow them to become the Battle Lovers and defend the Earth from evil with the power of love.
On paper, the idea of Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! (geez, that’s a mouthful) doesn’t even sound like something that would even be good, is not hilariously ridiculous at best. Heck, a magical boy anime is probably the last thing anyone would expect to come out of Japan. I can say for certain that after the first episode, Bouei-bu is hilariously ridiculous, in a good way. It’s certainly something else.
So… where are all the females in this show?
