Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? // First Impressions

Screenshot - 4_11_2015 , 4_36_17 PMSo you all made the grave mistake of making me want to watch a certain anime I wasn’t intending to watch otherwise, which, whaddaya know, happens to be based on a light novel. Well, if I don’t like it, then you gotta pay the price. Sorry.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (What a mouthful), a J.C. Staff adaptaion of Fujino Oomori and Suzuhito Yasuda’s light novel, is set in the fantasy RPG world known as Orario, where adventurers journey into dungeons to find treasures. For our protagonist, Bell Cranel of the Hestia Familia, he journeys into dungeons to, well, pick up girls in a dungeon.

Halfway through the first episode, I could instantly tell that I was not going to like this show at all, for multiple reasons. Mainly related to a certain online game anime following a character voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka once again picking up girls in online games. Urgh. That and said girls only being there for the sake of boobs. It doesn’t help that you’re just thrown into the show without any hook other than JRPG and cute girls with huge boobies. Fortunately, unlike that show, it does at least appear to be using its premise somewhat decently. It does feel a bit Log Horizon-ish, though. Other than that, it just looks nothing more than the usual generic light novel junk with an overly long title. Yeah, maybe it is wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon. Well, as long as this doesn’t irritate me as badly as No Game, No Life did…
