Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, a Sunrise adaptation of Yasuo Ohtagaki’s manga, is set in Universal Century year 0079, during the One Year War in the Thunderbolt Sector, which was once occupied by Side 4, Moore. Those who survived the destruction of Side 4, known as the Moore Brotherhood, plots to take back their home from Zeon’s Living Dead Division. Meanwhile, Io Flemming of the Brotherhood and Daryl Lorentz of the Living Dead Division, two hotshot mobile suit pilots with opposing tastes in musics, begin forge their own personal war.
So, even though this one’s is merely a short anime (4 18-minute episodes), Gundam Thunderbolt has a very nice start. The Gundam series, particularly the Universal Century, has been known for mak the hardships of war and this one hasn’t skipped out on that. Other than that, I’m looking forward to seeing more of this (whenever the next episode goes online), and hopefully try to avoid the obvious comparisons I mean, come on, It’s not even the same composer.
