Seasonal Anime Reviews: Fall 2013

Not sure if this is just a coincidence that this girl looks like Tsukiko from Henneko.

OK, so since it’s the end of the year (And the first year of me stop being everybody’s best friend anime fan) this is where it all closes off. First, my thoughts on this season, then we close off 2013 with my Top and Bottom of the year. So let me start off with this Fall season. This lame-ass Fall season!

Seasonal Thoughts: What in the hell happened? I thought Winter was weak. This season was far worse than that. Usually a season would have at least four or five single-cour shows worth watching. This season only had one. Just one!! Holy crap, I should have suspected something when Summer season actually turned out way better than I thought… I blame it on Infinite Stratos.

Beyond the Boundary // First Impressions

Screenshot - 10_2_2013 , 8_26_28 PMA whole new season comes new anime to watch, love and (in some cases) tear it apart for being shit. Let’s see if this’ll be interesting.

Beyond the Boundary (Kyoukai no Kanata) is Kyoto Animation’s adaptation of Nagomu Torii and Chise Kamoi’s light novel. The story follows Akihito Kanbara, an ordinary high school student who is actually a half-youmu. One day, he sees a female freshman at his school named Mirai Kuriyama, who is attempting to commit suicide… or so he thinks. It turns out Mirai has the ability to manipulate blood and turn them into weapons. As a Spirit World Warrior, it is her duty to eliminate youmu, and that includes Akihito.

There’s a reason the last KyoAni anime I watched was Haruhi Suzumiya. Unlike some people, I don’t suck their cock every new anime they make, especially one with a boring and mediocre start as this one. Yeah, this chick’s too clumsy to be really competent and it’s not very engaging at all. Also, I think Akihito has a glasses fetish. I mean, so do I, but I’m at least subtle about it. I’ll keep watching, but my expectations aren’t very high for this one…
